METHOCEL™ 240 is a water-soluble cellulose ether polymer. It is based on high purity and non-ionic Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose (HPMC)with a low substitution. It provides a high viscosity of 40,000 cP for gel texture applications.

Applications

METHOCEL™ 240 functions as thickener, rheology modifier, binder, lubricant and film former, and water retention aid. The product is widely used in ceramics, cleaning solutions and extrusion applications.

  • Ceramics: METHOCEL™ 240 can be used in many ceramic applications. It provides controlled thickening, improved binding, and rheology especially in extrusion and casting applications. It also provides lubricity, smoother surfaces and prevents sag or deformation in ceramics and tiles.

  • Cleaning Solutions: METHOCEL™ 240 is used to enhance viscosity and provide thickening in cleaners and detergents. It also provides soil anti-redeposition, emulsion stabilization properties to a wide range of cleaning products.
