Product Overview

METHOCEL™ F450 Food Grade is a water-soluble cellulose ether polymer with food contact compliance. It is based on high purity, and non-ionic hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC). At addition levels of 2%, it yields a viscosity of 450 cP.

Applications

METHOCEL™ F450 Food Grade can be used in industrial applications when food grade approval is required. It functions as a thickener, rheology modifier, binder, and suspension aid. METHOCEL™ F4M Food Grade is applied in coatings, inks, adhesives, agriculture, gel packs, and cleaning solutions.

Agriculture: METHOCEL™ F450 Food Grade is widely used in crop protection for drift control, stabilization, rheology modification. It works as a dispersing aid in wettable pesticides and powder fertilizers. It improves adhesion to waxy plant surfaces. It is also used in seed coatings and spray adherents for better binding to seeds.
Cleaning Solutions: METHOCEL™ F450 Food Grade provides improved thickening, viscosity control, soil anti-redeposition, emulsion stabilization to cleaners, and detergents.
Coatings and Inks: METHOCEL™ F450 Food Grade functions as thickener, protective colloid and pigment suspension aid in coatings and inks. It provides outstanding film properties such as high tensile, strength, and elongation. It also improves workability and water retention for construction coatings.
