Food grade Methylcellulose thickener. Yields viscosity of 400 cP at low addition levels.

Product Overview

METHOCEL™ A4C is a water-soluble cellulose ether polymer. It is based on high purity, and non-ionic Methylcellulose (MC). The product provides viscosity of 400 cP at low addition levels.

METHOCEL™ A4C functions as a thickener, rheology modifier, binder, lubricant, and film former. The product is commonly used in industrial cleaners, coatings, electronics, agriculture, paper, and many other industries.

  • Agriculture: METHOCEL™ A4C is widely used in crop protection for drift control, stabilization, and rheology modification. It works as a dispersing aid in wettable pesticides and fertilizers. It improves adhesion to waxy plant surfaces. It is also used in seed coatings and spray adherents for better binding to seeds. METHOCEL™ A4C is listed in EPA inert ingredients and allowed to be used in crop protection products.

  • Cleaning Solutions: METHOCEL™ A4C provides improved thickening, viscosity control, soil anti-redeposition, emulsion stabilization to cleaners and detergents.

  • Coatings and Inks: METHOCEL™ A4C is used as thickener, protective colloid and pigment suspension in coatings and inks. It provides outstanding film properties such as high tensile, strength, and elongation. It also improves workability and water retention for construction coatings.

  • METHOCEL™ A4C is also commonly used in lubricants and metalworking fluids for its high lubricity and binding properties between organics and water.
