Product Overview

METHOCEL™ A4M is a water-soluble cellulose ether polymer. It is based on non-ionic Methylcellulose (MC). The product provides a viscosity of 4,000 cP and is a perfect fit for ceramics and extrusion applications.

Applications

METHOCEL™ A4M functions as a binder, rheology modifier, thickener, lubricant, film former, and suspension aid. The product is widely used in ceramics and extrusion applications. It can also be used in coatings, inks, cleaning solutions, and water treatment.

  • Ceramics: METHOCEL™ A4M provides uniformed thickening, improved binding, and excellent rheology control in ceramics extrusion and casting. It also provides lubricity, smoother surfaces, and prevents sag or deformation in different ceramic applications.

  • Cleaning Solutions: METHOCEL™ A4M is used in cleaners and detergents to provide improved thickening, viscosity control, soil anti-redeposition, and emulsion stabilization.

  • Coatings and Inks: METHOCEL™ A4M is used in coatings and inks as a thickener or rheology modifier. It also provides protective colloid and pigment suspension properties in specialty coatings. METHOCEL™ A4M enhances film formation properties for higher strength and improved finish durability.

  • Plastics: METHOCEL™ A4M acts as a suspension agent in PVC polymerization. The product is featured with exceptional control over particle size, low reactor scaling, and high bulk densities. It also provides advanced plasticizer absorption.
